2.10.7 Delaying the completion of a task (procrastination)
- Unproductive procrastination.
- Most frequently, unproductive procrastination is as follows:
- Procrastination as a result of perfectionism.
- Procrastination as a result of bore.
- Procrastination as a result of hatred.
- Procrastination as a result of "deadline frustration"
- Productive procrastination.
- Procrastination is productive in the following cases:
- When a low-priority task is delayed because of a higher priority task.
- When being excited (or emotionally unproductive).
- When you lack skills or information to perform the task.
- When your physical or mental condition prevents you from doing productive work.
- Combating procrastination
- Plan on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. Use a system of planning.
- Determine a deadline for each task.
- Use your productive time in your interests.
- Start with most unpleasant jobs.
- Perform some exercises at your desk to fight tiredness.
- Train your ability to concentrate.
