2.10.7       Delaying the completion of a task (procrastination)
 

  • Unproductive procrastination.
    • Most frequently, unproductive procrastination is as follows:
      • Procrastination as a result of perfectionism.
      • Procrastination as a result of bore.
      • Procrastination as a result of hatred.
      • Procrastination as a result of "deadline frustration"
  • Productive procrastination.
    • Procrastination is productive in the following cases:
      • When a low-priority task is delayed because of a higher priority task.
      • When being excited (or emotionally unproductive).
      • When you lack skills or information to perform the task.
      • When your physical or mental condition prevents you from doing productive work.
  • Combating procrastination
  • Plan on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. Use a system of planning.
  • Determine a deadline for each task.
  • Use your productive time in your interests.
  • Start with most unpleasant jobs.
  • Perform some exercises at your desk to fight tiredness.
  • Train your ability to concentrate.
